...so today was busy busy busy

I went in today expecting a lazy day updating festivals but oh how I was wrong.

The day did start out like this - updating, browsing for news, more updating...for about half an hour until I got an email from my deputy editor giving me the Reading and Leeds festival line-up and asking me to write captions for the website, detailing who, where and when.

Shelly loves Matt Tong <3

The office was buzzing with the news of the line-up. A lot of bitching and moaning balanced out with a lot more excitement. We even got a second play of Bloc Party's Remixed album (which I am totally in love with and would like played at my wedding) in support of their main stage slot. I can't help but feel a mixture of pride and pity for Bloc Party. Proud of the fact that this will be their fifth year at my favourite festival but pity that they still haven't grabbed that headliner status. It's a damn shame. They have been the highlight of every festival I have had the pleasure of seeing them play and I have no doubt that they will uphold that place in my heart this year too.

Here they are performing 'Banquet' on David Letterman's show...ahhhh

Before I got into writing the captions I was asked by Monica (who I believe is the picture editor at the website) to put the past two weeks' album reviews onto the CMA system, which would later go onto the website.

Now this task seemed pretty simple. I had to do the following:
  • Open the album sleeve picture in photoshop, change the colour format to RGB something or other, and re-size the picture to 300(w) by 184(h) in pixels
  • Upload the image to CMA version 2
  • Crop the image to thumbnail size
  • Upload the picture to the correct review in CMA version 1

Phew. I rattled through these for the last two issues of NME until I realised that the majority of last weeks' issues' reviews hadn't even been uploaded to the system! So I then had to create the reviews, create a load of artists etc...it was very boring and very long...but it needed to be done.

Whilst doing this I came across a MAJOR error on NME's part. If you have last week's issue, take a look. Basically they have used Swan Lake's 'Enemy Mine' album cover (page 42) for State Broacasters' 'The Ship & The Iceberg' (page 45) - oh dear. They weren't too happy when I pointed that out I can tell you.

Soooo that was my day. Oh and I totally forgot - Doves are in on Friday, not today!

Please have a quick vote on my poll to the right...I want to know what you think!

Over and out.
